The suspect refused to get out of the car and opened a can of beer.
Alas, this article was too funny not to share. No one got hurt, so we can at least share a giggle over it after the fact, can’t we?
For those of you not from the Madison area, State Street is an 8-block or so pedestrian zone that allows delivery drivers, buses, and bicycles, but not regular motorists.
From NBC 15:
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) — A Madison woman was arrested on Wednesday after driving erratically and almost hitting a bicyclist on State Street.
According to authorities, 42-year old Chenoa Taylor was driving fast down State St. when an MPD officer on foot spotted her.
Officials say the officer used her flashlight to beam the driver while yelling at her to slow down, but instead of backing off the accelerator, Taylor continued to travel at 40 mph, coming within one foot of a bicyclist.
According to MPD, the officer got in her squad car and Taylor was pulled over near the intersection of Langdon St. and Henry St. The suspect refused to get out of the car and opened a can of beer.
Officials say it took several officers to get her out of the car, under control and in handcuffs.
